Adventure Safaris 2002 McGlenn Letter

Dear Friends and Supporters,

School is done and we are coming into our summer ministries.

First a look back:

We had about 500 students in homeschool that Russ taught per month in 10 schools. Russ and Tricia team taught Creation Science at Venture High School in Minneapolis. It was fulfilling to see how some of the students grew from being suspicious and sullen to open and trusting with us. We had many opportunities to share in areas of concern with the students. This was a growing experience for us.

We also went to California and spoke to many homeschooler there and had a favorable response. We think the Lord is opening up doors for us to extend our ministry there. We want to ask your prayers for God's direction in this area. We looked into moving 10 years ago but the time was not right. Now maybe the time is right. We have people who will take over the teaching here and we will send lessons back that they will use.

That brings us to Power Point. This is a computer program that combines the color and clarity of 35 mm slides and photos with my graphics that I illustrate my class lessons with. Once a program is built, it contains all the visuals, hands on activities and teacher notes so that others can teach it. They can use the power point computer projector format or use the more traditional overhead transparency projector. I am not getting any younger and this system will help me pass on my teaching materials to others who can teach. I have a goal to transfer all my lessons (more that 70 one hour modules) over to Power Point in the next 5 years. Then I can make it available to more people as well as on Internet. Pray for God's direction on timing, equipment, and teachers.

I spoke at a homeschool retreat in Iowa last week and had half of my lessons on Power Point (5 total) it was wonderful and was well received by the parents and students. I brought my mobile Creation Science Museum and many remarked that it was the best retreat they had been on. The director said the camp was sold out and had over 500 attendees! I am grateful to Jesus for their encouraging response.

We thank God that we were able to raise money to buy a powerful portable computer for the Power Point program. Next we need to raise $1700 to pay for a high illumination digital projector. Usually we raise the money first, but with so many lessons that I will use this summer on Power Point we needed a better projector and got one from a man who gave us a missionary discount. The borrowed one was not working in some situations so we feel it was best to purchase one.

Pray that people will contribute to help pay the cost of this machine. Send tax exempt contributions to TCCSA c/o Byron Twiss 8100 32nd Ave. N.,Crystal, MN. 55427 designate it for the projector project.

Praise for a 20 foot utility trailer donated to our work. It has a drop down door and, is a dream come true as it makes it easy to load and unload with my poor back. I have most exhibits on dollies so I can roll them in and out of the trailer. Thanks for the family that loaned us their trailer for 5 years.

We will be running our dino dig near Kadoka SD this year. We ran out of bones at Belle Fourche. We will do some exploratory digging at that ranch and hope to return there in a few years. This gives the pastures a chance to recover. Pray God's blessing on the Rileys who were so generous and helpful there for 3 years. Pray we find good bones and can be a good witness at our new ranch near Kadoka.

We will be at several day camps and summer camps (see itinerary below) and ask for prayer for students to hear and understand God's call on their lives. Pray for traveling protection as we will put a lot of miles on this summer.

We would like to visit relatives in Washington and so ask for prayer for speaking opportunities to open up there in August.

My youngest son, Kevin graduated from Northwestern College this spring. He is going to start his own business refurbishing homes and apartments for contractors this summer. In the Fall, he will become a staff teacher for Adventure Safaris. Pray he will have a good income in his new job and will be able to move into Creation Science Teaching in the Fall.

My daughter Heather and her husband Mark have joined our teaching staff and will also be starting full time this Fall. Pray that they will have strength for this, too.

Thank you all for your prayers and financial help this year. Let us know your prayer requests, too.

In Him, Russ and Tricia.
