The Scientific Evidence for
Creation
According to evolutionary
theory the Universe began with a Big Bang which created hydrogen and helium
gases. Supposedly these gases expanded outward just short of a perfect vacuum
and at very low temperature. Somehow from these highly dispersed gases, stars
and galaxies created themselves, the Solar System eventually created itself,
life evolved on the earth and that microscopic single‑celled organism,
via millions of random DNA accidents, evolved into everything that has ever
lived. All of this occurred by naturalistic, mechanistic processes with no
intelligent assistance of any kind. Creation scientists reject this
unscientific scenario on the basis of:
The Laws of Thermodynamics. The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that an isolated
system can only become less ordered, less organized, less complex. It can never
go in the reverse direction. In violation of this natural law, evolutionists
believe that the Universe is an isolated system that began in the state of chaos
and disorder of a primeval explosion and converted itself into the incredibly
complex universe we have today. This belief is based on an unscientific,
irrational faith contrary to natural law.
The Laws of Probability. The average protein contains 400 amino acids of 20
different kinds arranged in precise sequence. Even 100 amino acids of 20
different kinds can be arranged in 20100 (10130)
different ways. There are only 1080 particles in the entire
Universe. If 100 amino acids were arranged randomly a trillion times per second
for five billion years, the probability of them being arranged just once in
a predetermined order is essentially nil. In order to have even the slightest
possibility an evolutionary origin of life in an ocean containing 355 million
cubic miles of water would require many billions of tons each of hundreds of
different protein molecules and hundreds of different DNA and RNA molecules.
Before the existence of life there could be no reproduction and thus no natural
selection. All of this must occur by pure chance. A naturalistic, mechanistic
evolutionary origin of life would be impossible.
The Fossil Record. The
evolution of a single‑celled organism into all the creatures that ever
lived during hundreds of millions of years would have produced an enormous
number of transitional forms. Our museums should have on display vast numbers
of undoubted transitional forms. But as predicted on the basis of creation
there is a systematic absence of transitional forms between basically different
kinds of plants and animals. For example, the fossils of a vast array of
complex invertebrates ‑ clams, snails, jellyfish, trilobites, sponges,
worms, brachiopods, etc. ‑ abruptly appear in the fossil record. Billions
times billions of fossils are in the rocks. Nowhere on the earth has anyone
found fossilized ancestors for a single one of these creatures. Each appears
fully formed. Supposedly one of these invertebrates evolved in fishes, believed
to be the first vertebrates. Some believe this would have required 100 million
years. We should have billions times billions of fossils of the transitional
forms between invertebrate and vertebrate. We don't have one. Every major kind
of fish appears fully formed with no trace of ancestors or transitional forms
linking one kind to another. These facts alone are sufficient to demonstrate
that evolution has not occurred on the earth. This evidence on the other hand
is exactly as predicted on the basis of creation.
Sensational claims are
frequently made concerning alleged intermediates between ape and man. But all
such claims are questionable and disputable. For example, Lord Solly Zuckerman
and Charles Oxnard assert that "Lucy" and her fellow
australopithecines did not walk upright, were not intermediate between ape and
man, and certainly were not human ancestors. Evolutionists have a sorry track
record here Piltdown Man was a fraud, Nebraska Man was a pig's tooth, Ramapithecus is now said to have
been essentially the same as a modern orangutan, and Neanderthal Man is now classified
Homo sapiens, fully human.
Various other arguments. The theory of embryological recapitulation is now a thoroughly
discredited theory. The list of so‑called vestigial organs has
shrunk practically to zero. The attempt to give an evolutionary explanation for
the existence of homologous
structures has been given up as hopeless by many experts in this field.
The undeniable evidence for complexity, intelligent
design and purpose in the Universe demands origin by an intelligent Creator.
